April 22, 2020

April 22nd was the beginning of the first round of the Road to Rio Major qualifiers. Astralis was matched up against Complexity. The last time the two teams met, Complexity sent Astralis packing at BLAST Premier in London. But this time, revenge was served. The Road to Rio series ended 2-1 in favor of Astralis:

  • 16-4 (Vertigo)
  • 13-16 (Nuke)
  • 16-11 (Train)

The ESL studio spoke to a satisfied Peter 'dupreeh' Rasmussen after the win:

Peter 'dupreeh' Rasmussen, Player, Astralis:

- It's great to have a win at the beginning of the league already. The fact that we had a really close game can help us in our future matches I think. We have already had one of those close games now that didn't feel like a stomp in any way which prepares us. Plus it was really nice to get some hours into the new Vertigo map.

This win puts Astralis at 1-0 in Group A with six more matches to go in RMR1; the first of three group stages to qualify for the $2,000,000 Major in November.
